Level 1-40 Progression Guide

Players who search “how to level fast in Arcane Lineage” are usually lost in the wrong place on the map, not the wrong stat build. This page is the zone ladder: where to farm at every level band, when to buy a weapon, when to fork a Super Class, and why a Lineage Shard used too early is the most expensive mistake in the game. Read this alongside the Essence guide and the Soul Tree page — this is the map, those two are the compass.

If you just spawned, do the getting started loop first: Bounty Board, Yorn’s Daze, the weapon shop, the trainer. Then come back here to plan the climb.

Level 1–10 — Caldera Town and the first weapon

The opening band is a checklist, not a race. You need three things before you leave the starter zone:

  • Yorn’s Daze — the three-slime errand that doubles your early damage. Without it you fight bosses with one hand.
  • A starter weapon — buy at the Caldera shop ladder around level 5. Dagger, staff, spear, cestus, or broadsword each cost about 50 gold and lock a Base Class.
  • The matching trainer — after buying the weapon, talk to the trainer inside Caldera to unlock your Base Class.

Farm Essence from field packs and Bounty Board quests. Meditate on the mat near spawn. Spend three stat points per level in Endurance and Luck until you stop dying to chip damage, then add your damage stat. The stat calculator keeps you honest.

Do not enter the desert at night on a fresh slot. Night-cycle enemies hit harder and the walk to Westwood is long enough without adding a harder mob table.

Level 10–15 — Super Class preparation and Westwood

This band introduces the fork. Around level 15 you can take a Super Class, but alignment and a trainer gate those titles. Before you spend the last levels:

  1. Read the Super Class roster and decide which fork you want.
  2. Check the live alignment note on Trello.
  3. Play the remaining session to match the note — Paladin wants Orderly, Assassin wants the other hallway.
  4. Walk to the trainer only when the card and your run agree.

Westwood becomes accessible during this band. The zone introduces Deeproot Canopy, the Cantia tavern for Musician or Bard, and the Selia table for Alchemist. These are subclass desks, not Super Class forks — take one when the town loop is boring, not before you own a weapon.

Stack Endurance and Luck. If you are leaning toward a magic class, add Arcane. Do not dump everything into Strength on a Wizard.

Level 15 — The Super Class fork

This is the most important level in the game. Your Super Class defines your party role for the rest of the run. The five Base Classes each lead to two or more Super Class options:

  • Warrior → Paladin (party tank) or Berserker (glass cannon)
  • Thief → Assassin (single-target DPS) or Rogue (gold and loot)
  • Slayer → Reaver (poison DPS) or Deathbringer (burst)
  • Martial Artist → Monk (block tank) or Brawler (Neutral, gold-friendly)
  • Wizard → Necromancer (summoner) or Elementalist (AOE mage)

Alignment gates some of these forks. Neutral Super Classes (Blade Dancer, Lancer, Brawler, Hexer) cost more gold but ignore the alignment poem. The alignment page explains the gates. The tier list ranks the options for party play.

After you take the fork, the game changes. Your toolkit is now complete enough to tackle named content. Go clear the early boss plan if you have not already.

Level 15–25 — Desert pressure and the Unearthed layer

With a Super Class locked in, this band moves into the desert layer. The zone introduces harder packs, new drop tables, and the content that shipped with the Unearthed era. Community walkthroughs still split this band into two workloads:

  • Desert packs — higher physical and magic armor on mobs. Your damage numbers look lower even when you are doing the same relative work. This is not a nerf. It is the intended scaling.
  • Cave pressure — Narthana’s Leaf, ingredient runs, and the early stages of the Cursed enchant quest. The quests page has the clipboard chain.

The Citadel of Immortality becomes accessible during this band. It houses the Hammer Orderly Class for players who want the late weapon path. Hammer QTE bars are different from sword and dagger — confirm the trainer exists on your shard before you commit to the dungeon.

Soul Points from first Super Class unlocks feed the Soul Tree. Health nodes first. Damage nodes when you can survive a missed Guard.

Level 25–30 — Named farms and the first clear bonuses

Bosses pay in more than gold. First kills grant Soul Points and first-kill bonuses that make the first clear worth more than the tenth. The bosses worth hunting in this band:

  • Yar’thul — the Mount Thul dragon. Community notes still attach Reality Watch, Narthana’s Sigil, and Metrom’s Amulet to this fight. Darksigil is also here. The loot table is deep.
  • Thorian — the rot boss for Darksigil, Stellion Core, and the Void Key. Void Key opens Metrom’s Vessel, which is the endgame seat.
  • Handaconda — the Gynx gear room. Open Hand, Dust Devil’s Eye, and Eroded Way are the three pieces. This fight is party content, not solo homework.

Trials multiply Essence and Soul Points during this band. Mild Lesser trials are safe. Greater Mortal and Light and Dark are still not a first-character plan. The Trials guide has the stack logic.

Level 30–40 — Late-game, covenants, and the final clears

The final band is when the game stops holding back. Packs hit like boss phases. Covenants lock at level 10 and rank up through repeated hideout work. The covenants page has the full roster: Blades of the World for gold, Way of Life for the healer path, Church of Raphion for Blessed builds, Cult for Soul AbsorbExecute pressure.

The late Super Class options become relevant here. Lionheart is the Endurance fork that pairs with tanky races like Gynx. Ultra Class is the level 30+ identity layer beyond Super Class.

Corruption from the Withered Grove era adds a second combat form. Build Corrupt Power in combat, hit 100, fire Soul Ignition. The Corruption walkthrough explains the Heresy / Blasphemy / Tyranny dialogue routes.

The Essence economy across all bands

Essence is the currency of levels. The meditation mat and the Spirit Domain are the only honest level-up path. Key rules across every band:

  • Small dumps — do not dump a giant Essence bank on a character who still misses yellow. The next pack scales with your level, not your skill.
  • First-kill bonuses — bosses grant bonus Essence and Soul Points on the first clear. The first Thorian and the first Yar’thul are worth more than the tenth.
  • Trials multipliers — after yellow is reliable, stack mild Lesser trials to accelerate the Essence faucet. Greater trials are a veteran lever.
  • No redeem shortcuts — there are still no codes. The Codes Hub stays empty. Anyone selling a level code is selling a screenshot.

After the 1-40 climb makes sense, go deeper: loadouts for race-plus-stat sheets, enchants for the damage modifiers that make late bosses faster, marks for the 50k Venia tax, and Metrom’s Vessel for the endgame seat. The climb is the tutorial. The wiki is the rest of the game.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

When should I unlock my Super Class?

Level 15. Check your alignment on Trello before the last few levels, then walk the trainer when your run matches the card.

Can I enter the desert at level 10?

You can physically enter, but the mob table hits hard. Finish the Super Class fork first, then go at 15–20 with a real kit.

Should I use a Lineage Shard during the climb?

Only after you understand what you are rerolling away from. First-kill bonuses, Soul Tree nodes, and covenant ranks all reset on a wipe.

Do Trials affect the level 1-40 climb?

After yellow is reliable, mild Lesser trials accelerate Essence and Soul Point gains. Greater Mortal and Light and Dark are not a first-character plan.

What is the most important level?

Level 15 — the Super Class fork. It defines your party role for the rest of the run. Alignment gates some forks, so check Trello before the last levels.
