Arcane Lineage Armor
Clothes with numbers. Buy a set that matches the weapon. Do not enchant a costume and call it a tank.
Armor in Arcane Lineage is the set you wear, not the four mix-and-match gear pieces and not the named artifact. Starter shops sell tourist kits. Super Class trainers sell identity kits. Blacksmith can craft later pieces if you can reach that desk. This page is how to read a set without copying a Day-1 percentage from a Grove overlay.
If you do not own a weapon yet, buy the weapon. Armor on an empty hand is a fashion show. The class unlock comes first.
Town sets you will actually see
Community shops still list a ladder that starts in Caldera and nearby towns. Names and gold costs move. Use this as a shape, then check the live vendor.
- Traveller — the nothing set you spawn in. No stats. Replace it when you have 50 gold extra, not before the weapon.
- Budding Mage — early magic clothes. Writeups still say low level, modest Gold, extra magic armor, a little HP, a little poison resist, a point of Arcane. Staff users look here. Sword users look away.
- Wandering Scoundrel — speed and a little physical armor. Thief-shaped. Fine for running between tiles. Not a boss plan.
- Explorer / Nobleman — the “I have a little Gold now” body kits. Physical or mixed resists, run speed, fall resist, flat HP. They exist so you stop wearing Traveller into the desert. They do not replace Endurance on the stat planner.
If a guide prints “Explorer requires level 50,” treat the number as stale until the vendor agrees. Plenty of town kits are level 5–10 clothes with a typo in a recap. Trello and the NPC win.
Super Class sets at the trainer
The armor that actually matches a fork is usually sold next to the Super Class trainer, not in the Caldera ladder. Damage clips still send:
- Magic DPS to the Elementalist pillar in the desert for the Arcane-leaning set
- Physical DPS to the Brawler ledge for Wandering Practitioner-style kits
- Spear supports to Armored Lancer talk
- Late tanks to Death Mantle / Arbiter drops for HP and regen
Those rooms sit on the trainer map. Alignment can still silence the handshake. Neutral forks cost more per skill. Do not buy Elementalist robes on a Paladin because the glow matched a thumbnail.
Blacksmith (Heaven / Illustris, subclass desk) is the craft extra from New Horizons Part 2. Summon an anvil, make a set, sometimes shard a weapon. Reach the gate first. This is not a level 5 chore.
What the numbers mean
- Physical / magic / poison armor — the chip you take when Guard is honest and yellow is not. They are not dodges.
- Flat HP — the only line a new character should get excited about. Pair it with Soul Tree health.
- Run speed / fall resist — travel. Useless in a slam.
- A damage stat on a robe — a bonus on a class that already scales that stat. A +Arcane coat on a Strength Berserker is a souvenir.
Unidentified Grove pieces can roll Endurance, Luck, and crit-shaped lines after you pay the identifier. That is the items half of the patch. Do not confuse an unidentified hat with a named Super Class set.
A sane buy order
- Weapon. Trainer. Daze.
- Replace Traveller with any cheap kit that matches physical vs magic.
- Stack Endurance. Learn yellow.
- Buy the trainer set that matches the Super Class you already walked to.
- Craft or identify Grove pieces only after a party can reclear the same boss twice.
Armor is clothes. Artifacts are relics. Enchants are modifiers. None of them press Space. A player who buys Death Mantle and then solos Yar’thul on Greater trials is not unlucky. They skipped the combat guide. Put the set on a character who already lives. Then go play.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What armor should a new Arcane Lineage player buy?
The weapon first. Then any cheap town set that matches physical or magic. Super Class trainer sets wait until you own the fork.
Where do I buy Super Class armor?
Usually from the same neighborhood as that Super Class trainer. Elementalist and Brawler shops are the usual damage examples.
Does armor replace dodging?
No. Resists and flat HP make missed yellows less fatal. They do not press Space.
Can Blacksmith craft any set?
Blacksmith is a later subclass desk in Illustris. Confirm the live recipes. It is not the Caldera starter shop.
