Gynx is not a first-spawn roll. It is a late obtainable lineage. Confirm the live card before you wipe.
Gynx is the tank-shaped obtainable race people search after Withered Grove and the desert season. Community builders list it next to Estella, Dullahan, and Ophimar, and they pair it with Lionheart, Paladin, Hexer, and Endurance Lancer. This page is the decision and the reported unlock. It is not a promise that a 2024 spawn table suddenly grew a Gynx button.
Your first race is still random. Estella, Nisse, and Stultus are the names unverified accounts see most. Gynx is not that roll. If you just spawned, stay on races and getting started. Come back when you can reclear named fights without spending the last life.
What Gynx is for
Builders treat Gynx as a frontline lineage. The job is to take hits, hold status, and keep a Super Class that likes Endurance standing. That is the opposite of a Speed Ranger plan. If you wanted glass crit, you wanted a different name.
Community kit notes describe a roar-shaped defensive window around the mid teens of the race and a later taunt-and-weaken strike. Those numbers move. Read the live Trello card the day you commit. The pairing that does not move is simpler: Gynx wants a body Super Class, a party that lets you be the slam sponge, and a player who already Guards unread animations. How the unlock is reported
Community routes for Gynx describe a character wipe, not a free respec. That is the same seriousness as a Lineage Shard, except the destination is a named lineage instead of a random one. Typical reports look like this:
- Be late enough that a desert or raid-style boss is actually on the table. Level 5 town content is not the farm.
- Clear the encounter players nickname around Handaconda / Handed Contender. Party recommended. The dedicated Handaconda page is the fight plan; the early boss guide is still the turn grammar.
- Collect and equip the three signature pieces the community keeps naming together: Open Hand, Dust Devil’s Eye, and Eroded Way (sometimes written as Eroded Blade).
- Speak to the NPC the route names as Thyerias while that set is on.
- Confirm the wipe. You start over as Gynx.
Some writeups also mention a Forgotten Relic as a start item. If Trello or a Discord pin does not show that relic the week you play, skip it. Do not buy a screenshot.
This wiki will not invent HP pools, drop rates, or a fake “100 desert kills to spawn” table. Those rot. If the live board disagrees with a YouTube title, the board wins.
What you lose
The wipe deletes the life you used to earn the gear. Levels, Super Class, Soul Tree spends, and alignment history go with it. Gynx is not a costume you put on a Paladin. It is a new character with a tank passive. If you cannot reclear the same bosses on a fresh body, you are not ready.
A shard is the random reroll. Gynx is the named one. Do not spend both in the same evening because a thumbnail said “immortal.”
Pairing after the wipe

- Paladin is the party babysitter if you still want the sword fork.
- Hexer is the Neutral support seat if you would rather debuff than soak.
- Endurance Lancer is the Neutral tank fork if Relan is the trainer you can actually walk to.
Do not pick Wizard as a first Gynx kit because you “already know Missile.” The lineage is paying you to stand in front. Spend the three points like a loadout: Endurance first, then the damage bar your Super Class actually scales.
Related races, not Gynx
Ophimar, Lentum, Amorus, Sheaa, Inferion, Vydeer, and Boreas are other obtainable or later names builders list. They are not Gynx. Chasing every name is how people never keep a Super Class. Pick one late lineage when the card is real, then play it. The race tier list ranks jobs, not a fashion show.
After you are Gynx
Unlock a class again at level 5. The shop still sells five town weapons. Axe and Hammer QTEs exist later as extra weapon bars — they do not skip the trainer handshake. Finish Corruption on the new life if Grove is still the season you logged into. Then go take a boss with friends who know you just wiped on purpose.
If a friend sends a “free Gynx code,” open the Codes Hub and leave. There is still no redeem box. Gynx is earned by deleting a character, not by typing a string.
